March 4-Prompt: People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

Response- One time when I had been arguing with my dad over the summer for days on end, I had to get out of the house to think to myself about what to do. I ended up taking back to back shifts to get out of the house and ended up getting some additional advice from my coworker about what to do. I think its good to get out sometimes to think about certain situations.  Summary- When I was arguing with my dad I had to get out of the house. Reflection- In class we worked on our new book and survival.

March 3-Prompt: After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Response- We didn't have time in class to read chapter 1, but we did talk about things we would bring if we went camping alone for months. I chose to bring first aid and a Glock for safety. We also talked about bears and what to do if you see when. We saw a video of a bear chasing someone and it was scary how fast they run, but educated me on how to escape from one. Summary- I would bring first aid and a Glock to go camping. Reflection- In class we wrote 12 things to bring camping and talked about how to survive.

March 2-Prompt: Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Response- The easiest word for me was frenetic. This word was the easiest for me to understand because I'm familiar the word. I used an image of a girl rushing to type something to represent someone being frantic. The most challenging vocabulary word for me to learn was recrimination because I've never heard of it before so I was new to it. I made my own sentence about a lawyer using recrimination to accuse the opposing side and a photo of two men blaming each other to help me understand it better. Summary- The easiest word for me to learn was frenetic and the most challenging was recrimination Reflection- In class we worked on a digital vocabulary assignment

Feb 27-Prompt: After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Response- A lot of people liked the theme/colors and layout of my poster. Someone also said that they liked my use of similes and explanations for my poster. Summary- People liked the theme of my poster Reflection- In class we read our essay feedback and got a 170/200. We also commented and observed everyone's poster in the adobe gallery.

Feb 26- Prompt: Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Response- I don't know why, but metaphors are always harder for me to come up with then similes. I struggle a little on being creative with metaphors, but I improved a little after working on the worksheet. Summary- I struggled with creating metaphors. Reflection- In class we worked on our simile and metaphor worksheet. I also worked on a digital poster.

Feb 24- Prompt: Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Responses- While doing the assignment, I found out creative ways to describe myself and my experiences through similes and metaphors. For example one of the smilies I wrote was "People criticize me before knowing me, just like judging a book by its cover.". This one I find really relatable because it happens to me a lot. Most people I don't even know assume the worst of me or believe random rumors about me before even talking to me. But in other metaphors I wrote it reminded me of times I improved in certain things. Summary- Writing similes and metaphors helped me understand myself better. Reflection- In class we created our own 12 metaphors and similes.

Feb 23-Prompt: Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Response- During the break I worked a lot and I visited family. The most I remember if work, I had fun because there were new hires that me and my coworker trained. I only worked night shifts and we had a lot of Karen's but over all my shifts were really busy. Summary- I trained new hires at work during the break.  Reflection- Overall I had a chill break and I probably could have used another week but that's fine.
